Francesca Fiasco: Artistry from the Heart of Campania

A young woman sits atop a wine barrel, holding a glass of red wine and gently sipping it. She wears a light blue shirt and dark pants, with her legs crossed. The background features a textured red wall.

At Dialect Imports, we partner with winemakers whose work reflects not only technical skill but also a deep personal connection to their land. Few embody this blend of artistry and authenticity more than Francesca Fiasco, a young Campanian winemaker creating small-production wines with extraordinary heart.

A Vineyard Rooted in Heritage and Protected Land

Francesca’s winery sits in Felitto, a picturesque mountain village within the Cilento National Park of Campania. Farming inside a protected park is both a privilege and a responsibility, and one afforded to only a handful of producers. The absence of industrial activity, paired with the region’s clay-limestone soils and cooling mountain winds, provides ideal conditions for expressive, terroir-driven wines.

This is also the land her grandparents cultivated for decades. When Francesca took over the estate in 2015, she inherited not only vineyards but a legacy of patience, respect for nature, and hands-on dedication passed down from her grandfather, Nonno Luigi.

Tradition, Reimagined with Purpose

Francesca’s approach blends traditional methods with a modern clarity of vision. She farms organically and keeps intervention low, allowing each grape variety, from Aglianico and Barbera to Fiano, Greco, and Cabernet Sauvignon, to tell its story.

Her blends highlight subtle differences between sites and vintages, each wine offering a snapshot of the landscape she knows so intimately. Reds undergo a thoughtful élevage in French tonneaux and botti of varying ages, while whites develop in a mix of stainless steel and oak, balancing texture with freshness.

A Labor of Love You Can See and Feel

Before the wine even reaches the glass, you encounter one of the most defining elements of Francesca’s work: her commitment to craftsmanship.

Every bottle is hand-numbered by Francesca herself, wrapped individually in tissue paper with her emblem and accompanied by handwritten notes and sayings on each case. These touches are not about aesthetics alone, they reflect the deeply personal relationship she maintains with every bottle.

Wines with Critical Praise for a Rising Talent

Though still early in her career, Francesca’s wines have already earned recognition from James Suckling, reflecting both the precision of her work and the promise of her future.

Bottle of Mèrcorì 2016 red wine by Francesca Fiasco, featuring a decorative label with blue and gold accents, set against a transparent background.

Mercori 2019

“A full-bodied, compact red with tons of plums and berries, together with roasting herbs and a touch of more exotic forest floor, almost black truffle. The tannins are well-integrated, giving a velvety mouthfeel. The finish is long, fruity and savory at the same time. A super, flamboyant blend of aglianico, cabernet sauvignon, aglianico, sangiovese and barbera that manages to remain quintessentially Campania. Drink or hold.”

A bottle of Difesa 2016 wine by Francesca Fiasco, featuring an elegant label with intricate designs and a blue and gold color scheme.

Difesa 2019

A truly unique blend of varieties, the wine accents many of the natural and delicious aspects of each grape– the Aglianico with its rustic tannic structure and dark, smoky fruit; the Cabernet with a slight herbaceous character and combination of red and black fruit, Barbera’s floral juicy notes, and a complex mix of other Mediterranean herbs and spices.

Bottle of Lapazio 2018 white wine by Francesca Fiasco, featuring an elegant label with text and artistic design.

Lapazio 2024

A blend of mostly local varieties: Fiano, Falanghina, and Coda di Volpe. The vineyards are located in clay, silt-rich soils, at an elevation which influences the wine’s minerality and freshness. Made with low-intervention, the grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. Because of its freshness, minerality and balanced acidity, with stone fruit, citrus, herbal and nutty notes, Lapazio worked well with seafood, vegetable dishes and softer cheeses.

A bottle of wine labeled 'ERSA 2017' from Francesca Fiasco, featuring elegant packaging with a white and gold design, showcasing the unique heritage of Campania.

Ersa 2021

A big wine that shows a lovely combination of fruit, the black, brambly fruit of Aglianico with the brighter combination of fruit in Cabernet, then lifted more floral aromatics from Barbera and the other native varieties. Drinking nicely now but will benefit from more time in the bottle as well.

Her accolades underscore her ability to craft wines that balance originality with deep respect for tradition, delivering remarkable character in every bottle. And while her newest release — Apifero 2024, a fresh, sun-soaked Falanghina-driven debut — has yet to receive formal ratings, it hardly needs them. True to Francesca’s style, this wine already speaks for itself, capturing the soul of southern Italy with the same care, precision, and quiet brilliance found across her entire portfolio.

A Rare Producer from a Rare Place

Francesca Fiasco is more than a promising young winemaker, she is a keeper of a unique terroir and a storyteller of her family’s agricultural legacy. Her wines offer an authentic taste of a protected landscape, expressed through a deeply personal lens.

We are proud to share Francesca’s work with our partners, and to support a winemaker whose dedication shines through in every thoughtful detail, from vineyard to cellar to bottle.
